Fertilizer Grade Magnesium Oxide is a white, hygroscopic solid mineral powder produced by calcining natural magnesite at controlled temperatures (typically 950–1100°C) . This "caustic calcined" form of magnesia is specifically manufactured to serve as an available source of magnesium for agricultural applications .

Magnesium oxide is the most concentrated source of magnesium available for fertilizer use, containing approximately 60% elemental magnesium by weight. It is practically insoluble in water but readily soluble in dilute acids, allowing for controlled release of magnesium in soil environments
